Speeding fines are one of motorists main bug bares. If you “tot up” 12 points on your motorbike or car licence you can be instantly banned from driving for a given period, usually 1 year. The most common way of being caught is with a mobile police speed trap but also Gatso cameras and radars.
Insurance companies see Speeding Fines and penalty points as a negative and the more you have the more you will pay for insurance. As a really rough guide for every 3 points on your licence, your premium will increase by £50 to £100.
